sometimes indicate what that Psalm might have been intended for. For example,
the following uses are identified:
Memorial- 38, 70
House dedication- 30
Song of love- 45
To teach- 60
Sabbath Day- 92
Thanksgiving- 100
When afflicted- 102
Psalms of Ascents- 120-134 (travel to Jerusalem for festivals, ref.
Ex 23:14, Dt 16:16, Lk 2:41-42)
Per the research of Gunkel (discussed by LaSor et. al), some particular
Psalms were intended for particular uses:
Worship- 8, 19, 29, 33, 104, 105, 111, 113, 114, 117, 135, 136, 145-150.
Includes Psalms for victory (68), processional (84, 122, 13, 24, 87), exaltation
of Zion (46, 48, 76) and enthronement (47, 93, 96, 97, 98, 99).
